Coming in the patient app

Dr. Kings, your AI health assistant.

Clinical chat, symptom checker, smart booking, and health information, in Arabic (Saudi dialect) and English. By voice or text.

What's coming
Capabilities

Eight capabilities, one experience.

Capability 01

AI-powered chat

Ask anything about your health in Arabic or English. Multi-turn conversations grounded in KCH-approved clinical content, with full context across your visits.

Capability 02

Symptom checker

Describe what you feel; OSLER classifies urgency, suggests the most likely specialty, and routes you to the right next step — clinical decision support, not diagnosis.

Capability 03

Smart booking & care navigation

Natural-language scheduling: "next-available cardiology slot in Arabic" works. OSLER picks the right consultant based on your history and previous visits.

Capability 04

Medication information

Personalized guidance on every prescription: dosage, side effects, drug-drug interactions checked against your active medications, refills, and pharmacy delivery options.

Capability 05

Result explanation

Plain-language interpretation of lab and radiology reports. OSLER points to which numbers moved, what is normal for you, and which questions to bring to your next visit.

Capability 06

Arabic, in Saudi dialect

Native Arabic NLP fluent in Saudi dialect, not a literal English translation. Adapted to KCHJ clinical protocols and the way patients describe symptoms in Jeddah.

Capability 07

Voice interface

Talk to OSLER hands-free. Voice-to-text input in Arabic and English so the assistant works while you drive, while caring for a child, or in any moment when typing is hard.

Capability 08

Emergency safety net

Red-flag symptoms — stroke signs, chest pain, severe bleeding — trigger an immediate route to 911 and the Emergency Department. Every clinical recommendation is provider-reviewed; full audit trail retained.

How it works

From the question to the next step, in three stops.

01

Tell OSLER what you're feeling

Type or speak in Arabic or English. Use the body-map Symptom Checker if you're not sure how to describe it. OSLER picks up the context.

02

OSLER reviews your record + clinical content

Multi-turn reasoning across your visit history (FHIR R4), active medications, allergies, and KCHJ-approved clinical protocols. Triage classification runs on every message — red flags route immediately to ER guidance.

03

You get a clear next step

A suggested consultant slot, a plain-language explanation, a medication note, or — when needed — a direct route to the Emergency Department. Every clinical recommendation is reviewed by a consultant before it lands.

A sample conversation

What a chat with OSLER looks like.

You
I've had a dull chest discomfort for three days, comes and goes with walking up stairs. I'm 52.
Dr. Kings
Thank you for telling me. The pattern you describe — exertional chest discomfort at age 52 — deserves same-week attention. I can see Dr. Seraj Abualnaja has Tuesday at 11:00 in Cardiology, with a treadmill stress test slot available 30 minutes after. Should I book both?
Principles

What OSLER will not do.

Never replaces

Dr. Kings is a tool for you, not a substitute for your consultant. Every recommendation routes back to a named clinician.

Reviewed sources

Answers draw from KCH-approved content reviewed annually by our consultants — no open-internet text generation about your health.

PDPL-aligned

Your conversations stay encrypted, in-region, and inside your patient record — visible only to your care team.

Bilingual, by default

Arabic and English are first-class. Switch mid-sentence; OSLER follows.

Verified before personal

Public answers any visitor. Personal answers need a verified you.

Anyone can ask OSLER about general health, symptoms, or how to find a consultant. To open your record — labs, medications, your past visits — OSLER asks for Nafath or your portal account. We never read your chart before you have identified yourself.

Architecture & safety

A clinical product, not a marketing claim.

The stack
Healthcare LLM

A clinical-grade large-language model fine-tuned on KCHJ protocols. Multi-turn context, intent classification, and entity extraction (symptoms, medications, dates, dosages).

Arabic NLP — Saudi dialect

Native Arabic understanding adapted to Saudi clinical phrasing. Not a literal English translation; the model reasons in Arabic.

Knowledge base

Reviewed medical literature plus King's College London teaching materials and KCHJ's own clinical protocols. Updated by our consultant editorial board.

Integrations

FHIR R4 to your patient health record, TrakCare for visits and orders, the appointment system for live slots, and a national medication database for interaction checks.

The safety net
Emergency triage

Every message runs through a red-flag classifier. Stroke signs, chest pain at rest, severe bleeding, or anaphylaxis cues route immediately to 911 + Emergency.

Consultant review

No clinical recommendation reaches you without consultant review. OSLER drafts; your consultant approves. Same standard whether the answer comes in 30 seconds or 4 hours.

Audit trail

Every interaction is logged with timestamp, model version, retrieved sources, and consultant reviewer — auditable for clinical quality and complaints.

Saudi data residency · PDPL

Conversations and your record stay encrypted inside the kingdom and remain governed by Saudi PDPL. We do not use them to train external models.

Frequently asked

Timing, privacy, and limits.

  • OSLER ships in the patient mobile app in Scale Wave 1, with the symptom checker first and full chat shortly after. We will message all KCH Jeddah patients when each capability goes live.

  • No. OSLER triages, informs, and routes — every recommendation ends with a named consultant. The model is "AI-assisted clinician," never "AI clinician."

  • Conversations stay encrypted in-region, inside your patient record, governed by Saudi PDPL. They are not used to train external models.
